About Kraken Australasia

Kraken Australasia was initiated by Director Wayne Olsen in 2007 to fill a need for quality OHS management systems and integrated security planning for medium to large businesses.

Our services are built on the belief that it’s not enough for companies to simply have a safety management system or security plan in place. To add value to the business – and most importantly reduce the business’ risk exposure – safety management systems and security plans must be designed and developed to suit the individual business and then be implemented throughout the entire business. In addition, safety management systems and security plans must be integrated with operational and other business requirements in order to be successful.

Kraken’s specialist and focussed service ensures these objectives are delivered after input sought from all site stakeholders.

Our recent experience includes one of Australia’s largest privately operated waterfront facilities, the country’s largest privately owned steel recycling company and an ANZ company with 63 extremely diverse materials handling operations. A remarkable achievement given the resistance to change within the industrial environment of the time and an organisational structure traditionally “site-focussed”, therefore rather more independent than may have been the case in other industries.

About Wayne Olsen

Before launching Kraken Australasia, Wayne Olsen gained extensive operational and leadership experience in a variety of disciplines, both in Australia and overseas.

Wayne has extensive experience and knowledge in the fields of Safety Management Systems, Maritime Security Plans (both Port Facility and Vessels), as well as Port and Maritime Operations, having been responsible for implementing and managing projects in all these areas. This includes 3 years as Marine and Port Manager at a P&O Ports joint venture in Indonesia where he was responsible for an operating budget of US$8 million, a fleet of vessels and 340 employees.

Wayne, apart from his professional senior seafaring certificates and Monash university qualifications in Industrial Relations, is an Auditor accredited by SAI Global.

Experience and formal qualifications all play vital roles in the development and implementation of credible Change Management.
